Baton Rouge Wedding Photographer Backyard Wedding
As a wedding photographer, you never really know what the day is going to bring. Some are quiet and slow and tender. Others are wild, loud, and bursting with personality. This backyard wedding was both and it’s the kind of day that stays with you.
I had the honor of being the second shooter for this wedding, and my job was to focus on the groom and his bros. A group of rowdy, hilarious, unapologetically themselves men who kept me on my toes from the moment I arrived. From the second I stepped into the getting-ready space, I knew we were in for a wild ride. The jokes started flying before I even took my lens cap off. Most of the groomsmen, including the groom himself, were in law enforcement. That mix of strength, sarcasm, and loyalty was on full display all day. Think: tactical-level joking, mid-photo beer chugging, and the kind of brotherhood that runs deep.
Then came the vows. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the yard. He spoke with such raw honesty about love, about struggle, about the way she made him feel safe in a world that often doesn’t feel that way. The tough guys got quiet. And that moment, that incredibly human, heartfelt moment reminded me why I do this work
This wedding was everything a wedding should be: laid-back, joyful, personal.
To the groom and his incredible group of guys: thanks for letting me in on your jokes, for making those photos so much fun, and for showing up for your brother in a way only you could. You made my job easy and unforgettable.
And to anyone planning a backyard wedding: don’t underestimate what a little space, a lot of heart, and the right people can create. It just might be magic.
